Private Benjamin Beck served with the 7th United States Cavalry during the time of the Battle of the Little Bighorn. He was a member of the band and therefore not present at the battle.

Beck would have seven enlistments in the US Army totaling 30 years. He retired a Principal Musician on 28 Sept 1906.
