Henry Jean Paul Gelpi was one of the children born to Pablo Gelpi and his wife Rosa Maria Esilda Viosca.

Henry was united in marriage on December 2, 1876 in Orleans Parish, Louisiana to Nisida Jumonville.

Henry passed away at sea aboard the Ship Missouri as a passenger, presumably on his way back from Cuba, according to the manifest. He was buried at sea (Civil District Court Case Papers, No 3454-3579, 1881).
