Romain Baanrud 1920-1980
Romain Baanrud, 60, Clearbrook, died Monday at the Riverview Hospital in Crookston.
Funeral services were Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook with the Rev. Paul Knutson officiating. Interment was made in the Silver Creek Cemetery, rural Clearbrook, under the direction of the Cease Funeral Home of Bagley.
Baanrud was born April 9, 1920, in Gonvick to Gunder and Mary Baanrud. He was raised in the Berner area and moved to Bagley in 1928. He came to Clearbrook in 1938 and has since made his home there. He was married to Laverne Solberg August 23, 1941, at Grafton, North Dakota. She died in 1960. He married Margaret Fredrick Sorenson in Dickenson, North Dakota, September 15, 1962. He was employed in the construction of grain elevators and was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Marlys (Mrs. James) Breeggemann, Inver Grove Heights; three sons, Gary, Clearbrook, Dale, Anoka, and Eldon, Clearbrook; three sisters, Grace Saari, Minneapolis, Irene Mund, South St. Paul, and Arllys (Mrs. Gerald) Churness, San Diego, California; four step children, Clara (Mrs. Wipple) Duvall, Greenville, Kentucky, Arlene Stokes, Long Beach, California, Clifford Sorenson, Barstow, California, and Bonnie Thomas, Ontario, Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, and a brother.
