He leaves his wife of 72 years, Mae D. (Burgwinkle) Coccione; three daughters, Elaine A. and her husband Rabun "Cliff" Sanders of Greensboro, GA, Carole E. and her husband Robert F. Pietro of Holden, and Janice J. Gannon, wife of the late Michael F. Gannon of Waterbury, CT; a son-in-law, Robert M. Fateiger; seven grandchildren, Rabun Sanders, Robin MacKay, Cynthia Upham, Michael Gannon, Robert Fateiger, William Fateiger, and Kelly Keating; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two daughters, Lorraine Coccione in 1941, and Judith M. Fateiger in 2001. Two brothers, Dante and Joseph Coccione, and a sister, Grace Alessandrini, also predeceased him.Bill was born in Boston, son of Dominic and Palmina (DiMeco) Coccione, and lived most of his life in Clinton. He attended Boston schools.

For forty years, he worked as a truck driver for William Reisner Corp. He also operated Bill's Barber Shop for thirty years, retiring in 1977.

He was a long time member of St. John the Evangelist Church, the Clinton Turn Verein, and a former member of the Clinton Council Knights of Columbus. Bill enjoyed singing and sang at the old Raebu Club in the 1940's. He also enjoyed playing cribbage, and was an avid Red Sox fan.
