"Fred Baxter died at his home in Sloansville Friday morning, Dec. 5, after a short illness, aged 81 years. Mr. Baxter was born in Knox, Albany county, Nov. 1, 1860, and married Elizabeth Wolford Dec. 21, 1881. He moved with his family to Sloansville in 1898 where he conducted a blacksmith shop for many years. He is survived by his wife and seven children, Ralph, Lloyd and Earl of Sloansville, Arthur and Mrs. Lisle Saddlemire of Schenectady, Clyde Baxter and Mrs. Edith Empie of Johnstown, 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p. m. in the Sloansville Methodist church, of which he was a member, with the pastor, Rev. T. H. Reinhart, officiating.
