Thomas Goodrich, son of Ephraim Goodrich and Sarah Treat, was born on August 3, 1689 in Glastonbury, Hartford, Connecticut.

The date of birth of Thomas is a recent discovery postulated primarily on the will of Thomas Treat dated June 13, 1709, of which Thomas Goodrich was a co-signer. In The Goodrich Family in America, the date of birth of Richard, the oldest child of Ephraim and Sarah (Treat) Goodrich, is February 27, 1685/6; the dates of birth for all other children, if presumed to be accurate, are clearly scrambled and in most cases are not assigned correctly on the basis of tombstone inscription information.

In Hale, House and Related Families, Donald Jacobus revealed tombstone inscription data that allowed assignment of all but two of the published dates of birth: August 3, 1689 and October 3, 1699. Jacobus conjectured that the published daughter Sarah said to be born on August 3, 1689, if she existed, could have been an elder Sarah who died in infancy, since Sarah who married Richard Butler and died on May 6, 1795 AE 98 is likely the child born on February 21, 1697/8.

However, there is no indication that a second daughter Sarah existed; she is mentioned only by Jacobus in Hale, House and Related Families as a possible means of rationalizing a daughter Sarah born in 1689, as published in The Goodrich Family in America.

Since Richard Goodrich and Thomas Goodrich were co-signers of the will of Thomas Treat dated June 13, 1709, which mentions land belonging to Richard Goodrich that borders the land of Thomas Treat on the south side, it is virtually certain that Thomas was the child born on August 3, 1689. With this date of birth, the ages of Thomas at his marriage and death are notably consistent with what is seen among most of his male siblings.

Thomas married Hannah Reynolds, daughter of John Reynolds and Hannah Dix of Wethersfield, on November 26, 1719 and they had 5 sons and 2 daughters from 1721-1737. Thomas received from his father Ephraim in 1728 a grant of 240 acres of land in the Three Mile lots of South Glastonbury which he deeded to his sons beginning in the mid-1750s, including the central lot owned by son Samuel on which the Still Hill Cemetery was established in 1776.

Soon after his last deed in which he transferred his homestead to his son Peter on October 3, 1760 Thomas died in South Glastonbury on March 10, 1761 and was buried in Green Cemetery in Glastonbury, where no visible marker of his grave survives.
