Private Frank Hunter served in Company F, 7th United States Cavalry during the Battle of the Little Bighorn. He was with the pack train and in the hilltop fight. He enlisted 17 Aug 1866 and was discharged 6 Aug 1876.

Hunter also served in Company E, 9th US Infantry and Companies E & I, 3rd US Cavalry. During the Civil War he served in Company G, 1st Ohio Light Artillery.
