He owned Arkansas Title Insurance Company in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Title Company Reliable Abstract Company and Jefferson Abstract Company all of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, McDonald Abstract Company of Sheridan and Mosley Abstract Company of Rison.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Darla Melissa Harper and Debra June Nixon. Mr. Nixon was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas on September 28, 1935, the son of the late Rev. Rolla Clyde Nixon and Mildred Axie Baker Nixon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Melvina Nixon of Sheridan; one son, Jerry Don Nixon, Jr. of Sheridan; two grandsons, Jerry Don (Jay) Nixon, III of Warren, and Clayton Wesley Nixon of Sheridan; one granddaughter, Leslie Bourne and her husband Jackie of East End; one great grandson, Jackson Bourne and two great granddaughters, Ryan Bourne and Blakely Bourne all of East End, Arkansas; two sisters, Axie Withers and her husband Billy of Fountain Hill; Joy Ann Martin and her husband Freddie of Hamburg, Arkansas and many cousins, nephews, and nieces, who are too many to put in writing.
He loved to travel and he and his wife, Mel were in all 50 states and countries and in New York and met Donald Trump long before he became president.
Mr. Nixon was in the United States Marine Corps, and a Korean War Veteran in 1953, and was past president of Arkansas Land Title Association.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, 6:00-8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
