Esther Beaupre (nee McGaw)
November 10, 1919 – April 3, 2015

Passed away peacefully at the age of 95 at the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Barry's Bay, ON. Some of you will remember Esther when she lived in Thunder Bay. She taught English at Port Arthur Collegiate, Lakeview High School and Selkirk High School in the fifties and early 60's. She enjoyed her students immensely and often recalled their names in later years. Born in Galt (Cambridge), Es started her teaching career at Alma College, a girl's boarding school in St. Thomas. She also taught in Port Credit before moving to Port Arthur. She married Len Beaupré in 1961. Esther was smart, lively, fun and enjoyed literature. After retirement she was involved with the Fred Varley Art Gallery in Markham. Predeceased by her husband Len, her sister Evelyn Elmslie and niece Margaret Elmslie. Esther left behind her nephew John Elmslie (Marilyn) in Prince George, B.C., niece Mary Jane Elmslie (Rolf) in Barry's Bay, and stepdaughter Gabrielle Beaupré in Thunder Bay. A memorial gathering is planned for her interment at Mountain View Cemetery in Cambridge early this summer.
