Janet Faye McCormick Harrington, 73, passed away Thursday, Sept.6,2012, at home with her daughter, husband and dear friends by her side. She was born in Harnett County on Jan. 31, 1939. Janet was a 1957 graduate of Boone Trail High School. She attended Worth's Business School in Fayetteville. Janet was a member of Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir since 13 years old. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton Edwards McCormick and Margaret Jeanette Harrington McCormick; brother, Glenn Dixon McCormick; sister Inez Carol McCormick Black; and a son, Clay Carlton Knight. She is survived by her husband Ralph S. Harrington of Broadway, NC; daughter Tori Knight Ferguson and husband R.C. Ferguson of Knightdale, NC; son, Kevin Scott Knight of Wilmington, NC; grandson Cormac Stone Ferguson; and her dear feline friends Dorothy, Kitty, Venus and Cat. Janet worked for many years as a secretary in Sanford for Freedom Construction Company and later for Wicker Oil Company. She was a poet and author of the chapbook A Warmer Touch. She loved working in the yard, especially pushing her self-propelled lawnmower. Janet received a liver transplant at Duke Medical Center in 1991. Janet was a woman of exemplary faith and an inspiration to all who knew her. Services will be held on Saturday, September 8th at Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church, 2300 Mt. Pisgah Church Road, Broadway, NC. Visitation will be held in the Sanctuary at 2:00pm and the funeral will be at 3:00pm.
