Alice 'Ali' McDonald, 76, went peacefully with the Lord on Tuesday Sept 11, 2007 in Pembroke Pines, Fla. from a long courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Akron, Ohio on June 4, 1931 to the late Charles and Minnie Hennessey Brown. Alice moved to Florida in the early 1960's with her late husband Thomas McDonald and their three children. She lived in Florida but Ohio was always her home. Alice had a special place in the hearts of all who knew her. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and visiting the Hard Rock Casino. She hit the big jack pot when she found her doctor four years ago, Dr. Aldo Montes who encouraged and comforted her through her final days.

Alice is survived by daughters, Kathy (Ron) Learn, of Ladylake, Fla., Karen (Gary) Shimminger of Cooper City, Fla., and Thomas 'Bud' McDonald of Hollywood, Fla. grandchildren, Scott, Nicole, Alexis, and Cristina Shimminger, Kristal, Cody, and Sara Learn; sister, Betsy (Andy) Barnette; brother Robert (Mary) Brown and sister-in-law Janet Brown; along with many nieces and nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Albert 'Birdie' and Stanley Brown; and long time friend, Peter Gresh of Miami Springs, Florida.

Family and Friends may call on Monday Sept 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
