Richard V. Humphrey, 84, of Wareham, formerly of Kingston, Plymouth and Carver, died Friday, May 12, 2017 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham.

Born in Rock, Michigan, he was the son of the late Katherine and Vernon Humphrey.  Richard attended Univ. of California Santa Barbara where he majored in archeology. Accepting an invitation from Plimoth Plantation to be curator of exhibits, he moved to Kingston.  Richard was also a substance abuse counselor and worked with Rational Choices.

Richard served on the Kingston School Committee and was involved in planning the construction for Kingston Elementary School.

Having many interests, Richard started Jones River Boat Company and built and restored fiberglass boats.  He also established his own publishing company, Teaparty Books, and enjoyed growing, catching, and preserving his own food.
Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Donovan of Munroe, NH; his sister, Eileen Humphrey of Flint, MI, and his close friends, Beverly Goranson of Plymouth and Genevieve Toutain of FL.

His funeral service will be held at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Kingston MA.
