Nicholas Richard Schroeder, age 29, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017, following a battle with addiction.
He was born on April 14, 1988, in Geneva, Ohio, the loving son of Jackie O. Watson and Richard A. Schroeder.
As a young boy, Nick loved to spend time in West Virginia helping his grandfather. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, he especially enjoyed fishing. Nick was a funny and good hearted man.
Nick began his struggles with addiction a few years ago, when a "demon" known as heroin was brought into his life. He battled addiction - and he put up a good fight. He tried to stay strong while in recovery the first time and had a slip; he told his mom he never wanted to let his family down. Nick always tried to help others who struggled with addiction as well. Nick was in recovery when this "demon" finally took his life on Saturday.
He is survived in death by his loving family: his parents; his brothers, Brandon C. Schroeder and Jesse (Brandi) Davis; his nephews, Jaren and Brady; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Vanessa; his paternal grandparents, Robert and Sylvia Cochran and Louise Trebec; and maternal grandparents, Carol Cochran and JR Watson.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 30th, at 1 p.m. Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday morning from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held 3:30 p.m., Tuesday at the South side of Harpersfield Covered Bridge.
Arrangements under the direction of Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva.
