Tommy A. Johnston

Ludowici – Thomas A. Johnston, Jr., 79, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at his home and under the care of his loving family and Georgia Hospice Care.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Long County, had worked as a deputy for several years, and previously served a Clerk of Superior Court for Long County from 1963-1969, retiring from civil service at Ft. Stewart in 2000. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, and drag racing. He was a member of Ludowici First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Mock Johnston, parents, Thomas, Sr. and Sarah Mueller Johnston, siblings, Louise Maulden and Clyde Frank Johnston.
Survivors are his children, Denise Walker (Edward) of Ludowici and Thomas Johnston (Chris Riley) of Johns Creek, GA; sister, Mary Ann Odum; granddaughter, Deona Carter (Chris); great-grandsons, Christopher Carter and Alex Carter all of Ludowici; special caregiver, Anita Williams of Jesup, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 29 at 2 PM at the Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Gardner and L.G. Mitcham officiating. Burial will follow in the Beards Creek Cemetery in Tattnall County.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
