Mr. Ray M. Batts age 90, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015.
Mr. Batts was born in Cheatham County, Tennessee, on September 19, 1925.
Ray was in Retail Furniture for almost forty years and was known as the "Nashville Furniture Man". He had five furniture stores in Middle, TN and two La-z-Boy stores. Many people got their start with Ray Batts and went on to having successful careers. Earlier in his life, Ray Batts had a country band and recorded several records.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Batts was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Batts; sons, Kenny and Gary; and a daughter, Cynthia Rogers.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Debra Batts Smythia and David Smythia; and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, November 23, 2015, at eleven thirty, Woodlawn's Dignity Hall.
Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Sunday from five o'clock until eight o'clock and Monday from ten thirty until the funeral hour at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton-Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to Guardian Hospice of Nashville, 741 Cool Springs Blvd Ste 102, Franklin, TN 37067-2697.
