Obit:#1: Diane Gronsdahl Soderquist Bailey:
The angels rejoiced the day Diane was born and again with her peaceful return. Diane was born in Spokane to Ozwald and Inez Gronsdahl, and was always the light of her daddy's eye. Diane attended high school in Longview and then moved with her family to Portland, where she married Gerald Soderquist in 1952; they later divorced. Diane worked as the personal secretary for Mr. Fred Meyer for a time and also spent many years employed by Precision Castparts and Oregon Engraving. Diane was active in the Crescendo Club, a singing group, in the '60s, and she also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, yoga, CDM, Unity Church and almost every type of music. Everyone she met will warmly remember her beautiful smile. Diane relocated to the Everett area in the late '60s, and then again to Kettle Falls in Eastern Washington in the late '80s, where she and the love of her life, Bruce McLauchlan, retired to a peaceful life in a quaint log cabin out in the sticks with chickens, dogs, cats and a beautiful garden. Diane and Bruce married on July 18, 2003, and then Brucie passed away on Feb. 24, 2004. Diane is survived and missed by her children, Stephen (and April) Soderquist of Redmond, Wash.; Tamara (and Rick Shellenberger) Sodhurquist of Snohomish, Wash.; Valerie (and Jim) McDaniels of Troutdale; and Stacey Evans of Lake Stevens, Wash.; and grandchildren, Kathryn, Kalyn, Erin, Shaanda, Cody and Nathan. No flowers, please. Remembrances can be made in Diane's name to your favorite animal charity or to Dogpatch Dog Shelter, 2279 Marble Valley Rd, Colville, WA 99114. Memorial services to be held at Unity Church, 3231 Colby Ave., Everett, Wash., on Friday Dec. 31, 2004, at 1 p.m. Celebration of Mom's life to follow at the family home. Please call Valerie at 503-661-1779 for details.
