Mr. Charles Byron Cox, Sr., 90, of Albany, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Pruitt Health Sylvester.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Hood and Rev. Hilton Gillespie will officiate with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Born March 18, 1927 in Atlanta, Mr. Cox was the son of the late Dr. Thomas Hall Cox and Mary Elizabeth Tolbert Cox. He served his country in the United States Army and owned and operated Cox Floor Covering. He was a faithful member of First Church of The Nazarene of Albany where he had taught Sunday school. He enjoyed fishing, but more than anything he enjoyed spending time with his loving family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 73 years, Lois Marie Barfield Cox; children, Charles B. Cox, Jr. and Sylvia of Albany; Mary Ann Blackmon of Albany, Charleen Rodgers and Bob of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Delores Levee and Andy Miller of Albany and Terry Malcolm and Steve of Arabi, Georgia; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 1411 Liberty Expressway SE Albany, GA 31705.
