Thomas Henry Bergman, 84 passed away May 19th, 2017 in Sedro- Woolley, WA.

Tom was born in Mt. Carmel, ND to Joseph and Bertha Bergman on March 6th, 1933. He graduated from Wales High School Class of 1951. After graduating he joined the Army. Once he was discharged he moved to Sweet Grass, Montana and began working at the Texaco refinery in Sunburst when he met and married Marda Erickson in 1956. Together they had 4 children. In 1958 Tom was transferred to the new Texaco Refinery in Anacortes. The family then settled on a small farm in Bow.

After Tom and Marda divorced in 1967, Tom went to Meat Cutting School in Toledo, Ohio and began his career as a meat cutter along with owning and operating the Edison, Corner, and Deming Taverns.

He met and married Bonnie VanPelt in 1972 and gained 3 bonus children, whom he loved as his own.

Tom worked many years for Thrifty Foods until his retirement in 1998. He and Bonnie enjoyed traveling in their 5th wheel back to Montana, North Dakota, and Arizona until Bonnie passed away in 1999.

In 2006 Tom moved to Creekside Independent Living where he lived until his passing. He met and made many friends there and enjoyed helping others, telling stories, and delivering newspapers to the residents.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Mark, sister-in-law Audrey, brother-in-law's, Ed Kessler, Tony and Leo Kram, and his wife Bonnie.

He is survived by his sisters Jean Kram, Puggy Kram, Patty Kessler, brothers Harold and Donna Bergman, and Jerry and Grace Bergman, sons Allan Bergman (Donna) of Belfair, Dan Bergman (Shelly) of Issaquah, Rick VanPelt (Shelly) of Clear Lake, Ron VanPelt (Alyssa) of Burlington, daughters Corrie Boe (Rick) of Burlington, Cindy Harper (Mike) of Chandler, AZ, and Lorri Christi (Craig) of Bellingham. 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to PeaceHealth United General Medical Center Auxiliary 2000 Hospital Dr. Sedro Woolley, WA 98284 Attn: Compassion Fund or the American Diabetes Association .

Arrangements are under the care of Smart Cremation.
