SHREVEPORT, LA – David Lee Cantrell was born on November 18, 1943 to Dorothy Lee and David DeVan Cantrell in Monroe, LA and passed away on May 24, 2017.

He grew up in Monroe and joined the US Marine Corps at the age of 17 and served for four years. Subsequent to his service, he moved back to Monroe and joined the Monroe Fire Department while attending ULM. Following college, he built a longstanding career as a senior executive in the insurance adjusting industry before retiring at the age of 62. David was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed spending time out on the water and in nature. But most of all, he was a great husband, father and grandfather and dedicated himself to raising his family.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Cantrell; his sister, Linda Bailey; along with his two sons, Kevin Cantrell and William Talley; daughter-in-law, Christina Burton-Cantrell; six grandchildren, Amanda and Trey Talley, and Braden, Colton, Christian, and Christiana Cantrell; and great-granddaughter, Emma Henry.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA, preceded by a visitation at 9:30 a.m. at the same location. The burial will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Florien Cemetery following the service.
