She was born May 22, 1937, in Nampa, Idaho, and moved to the Las Vegas area in the late 1950's to work at the Nevada Test Site.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Bernell Winans and Frances Lucille Grouws; and her sister, Mary Lou Waltman.
She is survived by her loving husband, of 35 years, Erven J. Nelson, M.D.; daughters, (Rhodes), Kimberly Sekol (John), Dana Veneklasen (Gary), Kathryn Edwards (Greg) and Shelly Martin (William); stepchildren, Erven T. Nelson (Lisa), Scott Nelson (Patty), Sydney Tyndall (Bob) and Marianne Noble (Larry); 28 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Jeanne Lewis. Frankie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She served those around her in many capacities, as a member of the Assistance League of Las Vegas and as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Frankie's family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the loving and devoted staff of Las Ventanas and Pro Care Hospice.
Memorial service honoring her life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, at the LDS Church, 9825 W. Desert Inn Road, Las Vegas, Nevada 89117.
