Bobby M. Shepherd, age 82, of Swiss Loop, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, May 24th, 2017. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Horace Lee and Nell Byrd Shepherd. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Cory Jake Hollifield. Bobby was a US Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid collector and enjoyed going to flea markets. He was also fond of his guns, gun shows and driving his tractor.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 28th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Harry Culbertson, Jr. and Rev. Denver Styles will officiate. Burial will follow in the Swiss Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57 D.A.V. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

The family would like to say a very special thank you to the staff of the Charles George VA Medical Center for the compassionate care they provided to Bobby over the years.
