Mrs. Mary Roslyn Wells Marlowe, “Mae” as she was affectionately known, oldest daughter of the late James Acree Wells and Effie Kendrick Wells, went to her heavenly home peacefully at her home in Swansonville, VA.

She was the widow of H L Marlowe, who preceded her in death in 1992. She was basically a home-loving lady and was employed for many years with Corning Glass.

She lived her entire life in the Callands and Swansonville communities of Pittsylvania County, VA.

She was a lifetime member of County Line Christian Church and was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She loved her family, neighbors and friends and she befriended them with her home cooking, especially her famous potato salad and pies.

She is survived by her two children Terry D Marlowe (Pebbles) of Chatham, VA and Linda Ann Shumate of Danville, VA, her special grandson, Keith Marlowe, who spent much of his life with her, helping take care of her and two great-grandchildren, Belle Lawson and Gage Marlowe and four step great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She is further survived by three sisters Virginia Herndon (Lindy) and Elma Herndon, all of Danville and Nadeen Tyler (Doug) of Rustburg, VA, two brothers Jack Wells (Faye) and George Wells, all of Danville as well as a special sister-in-law Callie Marlowe Wells of Callands.

She was predeceased by her sister Ruby Wells Burge and five brothers Hassell Wells, James Wells, Emmett Wells, Harold Wells and Dennis Wells.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Melissa Marlowe for all her loving care in “Granny’s” last days.

Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at the County Line Christian Church cemetery with Minister Dean Ashby officiating.
