Charles received his BA from West Virginia University, his MA from University of Michigan in Environmental Sciences and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore. Mr. Deem worked as a lawyer until his retirement in 1999 first with Stedina and Shaw and then as a partner in Stedina and Deem law firm, both in New York City. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army. He was a lifelong tennis player and a member of the Netherwood Tennis Club in Plainfield as well as a lifelong piano player. He was self-involved in computer technology and faithfully donated blood with the NJ Blood Bank.
Mr. Deem is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Wojie); his son Alan Deem and daughter Susan Labato both of Santa Fe, New Mexico; his granddaughter Christina Labato; and his brother John Richard Deem, M.D. of Glasgow, Virginia. He was pre deceased by his brother Fred B. Deem Jr.
