George passed away on Monday, May 22 at Texoma Medical Center in Bonham, Texas. He was born in Commerce, Texas, to Roy and Bessie Humphries on May 26, 1940.

The graveside services for George Humphries, 76, of Noble, Texas will be held on Wednesday, May 24th, 2017 at the Restland Cemetery in Roxton. Visitation will start at 6 P.M. at the cemetery, followed by the service at 7 P.M.

He graduated from Roxton High School in 1958, and attended East Texas State College and Paris Junior College. He worked for General Tire Company in Waco, Texas before returning to the family farm. He joined his father, Roy Humphries, for a number of years. The years went along and children were born, he would add them to the operation. The family farm will continue with two sons and a grandson. He was also involved in the starting of the Roxton Volunteer Fire Dept., and recognized by Soil Conservation.

George was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Tommy Golden, two sister-in-law’s, Carol Nelson and Priscilla Vandygriff.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Golda, son Brian and wife Jamie of Noble; son Kyle Humphries of Roxton, sister Margret Golden of Enloe, Brother-in-law Don Nelson of Roxton and Brother-in-law Robert Vandygriff and wife Deb of Lipscomb. One aunt Mozelle Ray of Klondike, Grandchildren Elizabeth Humphries of Blossom, and grandson Clay Humphries and wife Jordan of Noble. He also has several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Honorary Pall Bearers will be Matthew Albus, Chris Love, Cole Love, Jeff McDowell, Doug Nelson, Rickey Shipman, Doug Stroud, and Ben Turnbow.
