Ralph Woodrow Garrison, Sr., 84, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, after an extended illness.

He was born in Pamplico, SC, a son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Mamie Louise Jeffords Garrison. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Garrison was the owner and operator of Garison Pest Control, Inc., in Florence from June, 1960, until his retirement in 2011. He was a member and former secretary of the S.C. Pest Control Association.

Mr. Garrison was a member of Unity Baptist Church, and was a former member of Greenwood Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

He was active in the Florence community, representing the Sixth District on the State Health and Human Services Finance Commission. He was a summary court judge from 1969 – 1993. He also served as secretary of the Florence County Democratic Party. He was a member of the Flintville 158 AFM Masons.

He was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Shirley Garrison.
