Virginia Newton, age 92, of Portage, IN, passed away on May 23, 2017. She was born on August 23, 1924 in Gary, IN to James and Mary (Meda) Moldovan.
Virginia is survived by her son; Jerry Newton of Portage, IN; daughter, Sherry Hamilton (Chuck Livingston) of Portage, IN; grandchildren, Kim (Toby) Guill, Scott (Stacy) Clark, David (Lindsay) Newton, Patrick (Carley) Newton and Erin (Matt) Cullen; 11 great grandchildren; and son-in-law, Dave Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda Clark; two brothers; one sister; and daughter-in-law, Diane.
Virginia loved baking and cooking. She was a very giving and a very non-judgmental person. She loved her church and spent endless hours volunteering her time there. She was a member of the NWI 7th Day Adventist Church.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, IN 46368 with Pastor Allen Shepherd officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Northwest Adventist Christian School, 10570 Randolph Street, Crown Point, IN 46307. Burial will take place at Heritage Cemetery, Portage, IN.
