Born in New York City, Mrs. Lavielle was the daughter of Fannie Ostrow Moss and the late Edward Moss. She attended New York City schools, the University of Wisconsin, and the National Academy of Dramatic Arts.
On 19 October, 1935, Miriam married Joseph Vito DeSantis, a New York City sculptor and actor., and they resided in New York City. She and her husband were mentioned in an article in the New York Post of 2 June, 1937. They had one son, David Peter DeSantis. Later divorced. She married André Lavielle in New York City on 24 September, 1948.
Living ten years in Patterson, Mrs. Lavielle was a past president of the Parent Teacher Association, a member of the HAGS Social Club that sponsored many activities that benefited community programs in Patterson, and a leader of the Girl Scouts. She and her husband were hotel proprietors and managed the LeRobinson Farm in Patterson, which was the former home of Jacob Stahl, best known as the owner of the Putnam Cigar Factory and other buildings in the village of Patterson. The house was a four story frame structure that was built in the fall of 1896, and was a showplace in Patterson when it was built. In the late 1950's the Lavielle's operated the house as a French restaurant and boarding house . The house had room for 50 guests, and there were cottages located on the adjoining property. Her husband continued to manage the hotel until it was destroyed in a fire in February, 1960.
Besides husband and mother, she leaves one son, David Peter DeSantis of Patterson, a brother, Milton Moss of Silver Spring, MD, and a sister, Mrs Ethel Horn of South Salem, N.Y.
Her obituary was published in the Brewster Standard, August 06, 1959.
