Avis B. Schneider

Avis B. Schneider, Galesburg, formerly of Viola and Aledo, died Thursday evening, Jan. 10 at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, IL. Funeral services were held at St. Patricks Church Galesburg with burial at St. John's cemetery, Viola.
The former Avis Bridger was born April 22, 1905 near Norwood, IL, a daughter of William J. and Nancy Rosalia Brown Bridger.
She attended schools in LaPlata, MO, Alexis, IL and was a graduate of Viola High School.
She married Louis J. Schneider Aug. 27, 1927 in Chicago where they lived a short time then moved to Aledo.
In 1941 they moved to Galesburg where he died in 1958.
Mrs. Schneider continued to live in Galesburg until she entered the nursing home in October of 1978. She had been active in business for many years.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Avis Mary) Carpenter, Galesburg, a son, James L. Schneider of rural Galesburg, a grandson, several step grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Garnette Ernst, Des Plaines, IL and Mrs. Gladys Culhane of Medinah, IL and nieces and nephews.
