Daughter of John Slocombe and Laura. She married John Hudson in 1875.

Obituary in The Herald (Melbourne) of Dec. 22, 1953: Victoria's oldest woman dies, 105. Victoria's oldest woman, Mrs Laura Mary Hudson, 105 years and nine months, died on Sunday at the house in Clunes where she had lived since a girl. She came to Australia from England when she was four, with her parents, who settled at Geelong. Later they moved to Clunes, where her father, Mr Slocombe, built the cottage. On her marriage to Mr John Hudson, her parents left, so that she and her husband could live there. The cottage is a little museum of Victoriana, which she collected a curtained four-poster bed, a hand-embroidered brushand watch holders, handworked linen pillow shams and bed-spread, leather work flower picture frames and card baskets, wax flowers under glass —all, with the exception of the four-poster, which her father made, her own work. In pride of place on the mantel-shelf of the parlor is the silver filigree posy-holder which she carried at her wedding at St. Paul's, Clunes. She worshipped there every Sunday, and was an ardent church worker until arthritis crippled her a year ago. Until a few weeks ago Mrs Hudson enjoyed good health. She liked to keep abreast of the news of the world, and to receive visitors. A seat was to have been reserved for her for the Queen's visit to Ballarat in March. Mrs Hudson had 10 children — six sons, all deceased, and four daughters, Mrs Arthur Lean and Mrs Fred Rogers, of Clunes; Mrs E. Taylor, of Geelong; and Mrs W. Clark, who for some years lived with her mother at Clunes. She had 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
