"Phillip Clay (born Dec 30, 1974), who grew up in Seoul at Eunpyeong Orphanage and was adopted to Pennsylvania at the age of 10 years old, was found dead on Sunday, May 21, 2017. Phillip was an adoptee without US citizenship, and was deported in 2012. Phillip, also known as Kim Sangpil,
continued to search for his family in Korea and was living in Ilsan at the time of his death.
Phillip's US adoptive parents have been informed of his passing and, at their behest, services for him are being arranged in South Korea by Holt. Korean Adoption Services and the Ministry of Health and Welfare provided support for visitation with adoptees in attendance on May 23. Holt is organizing a Christian funeral service to be held at the same Myungjin Hospital location in Ilsan at 1:00pm KST on May 24. Attendance is open to the members of community and the public, and folks are encouraged to arrive by 12:45pm. Phillip's remains will be interred at the Seoul Metropolitan columbarium. May he rest in peace."
