He passed away from heart-related illness at his home in Marshall, Texas.

"Rites Arranged -- Funeral services for John Patton, 1808 Spring Street, Marshall, are to be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at new Bethel Baptist Church. The body is at Rambo Funeral Home. Rev. G. Washington Reece is to officiate. Burial is to be in McJohnson Cemetery. He was a native of Shelby County -- the son of George and Hettie Paton. He attended Shelby County public schools. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He died of a heart ailment on December 23 at his home.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lena Patton; three daughters, Mrs. Alberta Wright and Mrs. Thelma Candler, both of San Francisco, California, and Mrs. Minnie Walker of Shreveport, Louisiana; three sisters; five brothers; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren."
JOHN PATTON was laid to rest on New Year's Eve on December 31, 1963 on the grounds of McJohnson Cemetery in Marshall, Texas.
Arrangements under the direction of Robert A. Rambo and the funeral directors with Rambo Funeral Home.
