William “Bill” Ramon Ratliff, Jr. was born November 7, 1948, in Washington, Missouri, to William and Elfrieda Ratliff.

He grew up in Washington, Missouri. He joined the service at 17 and served his country well until the age of 20. His bravery during the Vietnam War earned him two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. He was an Airbourne Ranger for 173rd Brigade.

After serving his country, he earned degrees in Teaching, Art History, and Art Design from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He went onto become a layout artist for Sun Publications and then worked for McGrew Color Graphics as a graphic artist. He retired in 1992 to spend more time with his family and become a freelance artist for local businesses. Bill had an outgoing personality, never meeting a stranger. He served others in any way he could and always made his family a priority.

Bill passed away on Thursday, May 18th, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Christy, son Jason Ratliff and wife Jennifer; son Matt Ratliff and wife Tracy; daughter Andrea Drew and husband David; six grandsons, Jacob, Joseph, Jase, Jett, Liam Ratliff, and Thomas Drew, and one granddaughter, Reid Ratliff.

A memorial service has been arranged for Wednesday, May 24th at 10 am at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Homer, Louisiana. Donations in memory of Bill may be made to Wesley Chapel or MCAT (Men's Christian Action Team). The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
