Stephen James Masters, 61, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015. Born May 3, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he was the son of Claude White Masters and Ursula Marie (White) Masters.

He attended Sacred Heart School in Sapulpa and grades 9-11at Ponca Military Academy in Ponca City. He wanted to come home to attend Sapulpa High School and become a Chieftain. He graduated from Sapulpa High School In 1972.

On March 29, 1975, he married Tammy Hurst while he was home on leave from the United States Air Force. After serving six years in the Air Force, he worked as a carpenter, worked at Liberty Glass, and established two businesses, Masters' Carpet Cleaning Service and Masters' Cleaning Service {cleaning restaurant ovens).

For approximately eight years Steve pretty much had to give up his businesses while he took care of his mother, who suffered from Alzheimer s and was bed-ridden for three years, and his father for the remainder of his life. He recently worked at Locke Supply. He was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Cowboys, and Oklahoma football. In addition, he enjoyed deer hunting and was an accomplished bowler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Ursula Masters, and his sister, Mary, who lived only one day.

He is survived by his daughter, Monica Marie Masters, three grandchildren, MeKayla Alexis Lenard, Chloe Makenna Williams, and Jaxton Clayton Lenard, two brothers, Bill Masters (Carol), and Bob Masters (Kathy), and numerous nieces and nephews.

The memorial service for Steve will be Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 1:00, at the First Christian Church, 220 East Lee in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
