Mary Michelle Larsen Sims, 73, of Soda Springs, ID passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in Pocatello, ID.

Michelle was born Nov. 1, 1943 in Salt Lake City, UT, daughter of C. Michael and M. Jane Olsen Larsen. She was educated in Ogden City schools, graduating from Ogden High.

She married F. Duayne Sims on Feb. 15, 1962 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with four daughters and one son.

Michelle worked at Security Title Company, Commercial Security Bank, Evans Aircraft, and Rossignol Ski Company. She also worked at a flower shop in Soda Springs, ID while working side by side with Duayne at Sims Funeral Home.

Duayne and Michelle and their children lived in Ogden and Kanesville, UT, Indio, CA and moved to Soda Springs in 1979 where they purchased the Allen Funeral Home.

Michelle was a member of the Ogden Jaycettes, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings with her favorites being working in the Young Women organization and Relief Society. Michelle loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and sewing clothes and quilts for them. She would spend many hours working on genealogy. She also enjoyed playing the piano.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years and five children: Sherie Sims Alvari, of Soda Springs, Tamra Sims of Laughlin, NV; Cathy and Monte Steele of Inkom,ID; Wendy and Ryan Holt of Great Falls, MT; and Darrin and Billikaye Sims of Soda Springs; 13 grandkids and 7 great-grandkids, one brother Richard of Ogden, UT and one sister Jerry and Blair Dean of Willard, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Kim and Gil, and one sister, Janie Youngkeit.

Services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Noon at the Hooper LDS Chapel (281 East Hooper Ave.) in Soda Springs. Family will visit with friends on Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the Church and on Friday morning 10-11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Soda Springs, Fairview Cemetery.
