Shirley T. Sims, age 67, of Kennesaw, passed away May 21, 2017. A funeral service was held in the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna. Interment was in Cheatham Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Sims was a member of Fellowship Christian Center where she sang in the choir. She had worked for over 40 years in child care in and around Cobb County. She was a light to everyone and never met a stranger. She was very adventurous and lived life to the fullest. She loved her family dearly.
Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by her father Leverne Rutherford. She is survived by her husband Roy A. Sims, mother Elsie Rutherford of Gainesville, son Wayne (Julie) Banister of Eatonton, daughter Becky (Philip) Howard of Kennesaw, daughter Courtney Banister of Cumming, stepson Chad (Cassie) Sims of Woodstock, stepdaughter Melanie (Chris) King of Wilmington, NC, brother Michael Rutherford of Gainesville, sister Kim Watson of Gainesville, grandchildren Jennifer, Kristin, Matthew, Morgan, Bryan, Kaitlin, Hannah, Abbygail, Sam, Rebekah, John, Luke, Caleb, Chloe and Henry, great grandchildren Hayden, Ansley, Alyssa and Rylie.
