Philip was born to William Burton Moore and Helen Moore on September 5, 1952 and grew up in Washington, Indiana. He earned his Bachelors and Masters degree in Technology at Indiana State University. He married Julie Tharp on January 4, 1975. Phil worked for McDonnell Douglas and then Boeing from 1976 to 2006 when he retired. After retirement, he worked with a group of scientists at Washington University to help create the Super-TIGER, a balloon developed to study cosmic rays. He was diagnosed with stage four cancer in January of 2014.
In his spare time, Philip enjoyed radio controlled airplanes and riding his motorcycle. Phil was also an avid St. Louis Blues Hockey fan. Above all else, Phil loved his family, and he will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
