Stephen Branzovich (aka Stephen Brenzovich)

Stephen Branzovich, retired coal miner, died at 8:30 a.m. today at his home, 1117 Webster St., Farrell, after a lingering illness. He was 74.
Mr. Branzovich was born Aug. 10, 1880, in Czechoslovakia, a son of the late Michael and Mary Cihak Branzovich. Until his retirement, he was employed in the mines at Slickville.
He was a member of St. John's Greek Orthodox Catholic Church of Sharon, the St. Nicholas Church Lodge, and the Greek Catholic Union No. 979 of Sharon.
In 1903 he married Helen Pagan, who survives along with three daughters, Mary, wife of Metro Karpinko, Farrell; Ann wife of Matt Senkosky, Sharon, and Sophie, wife of Henry Schaller, Farrell; seven sons, Charles, and John, Farrell; Michael, at home; Peter and George, Sharon; Steve, Sharpsville, and Alex, South Barre, Mass., one brother, Alex Branzovich, Fredericktown; 17 grand-children and two great-grand-children.

NOTE: Stephan's acutal birth place was in the village of Suchyj, Uug County Subcarpathian Rus', Austria-Hungary. After WWI the region was incorporated into Czechoslovakia. After WWII, it was annexed into the present day Ukraine as Zakarpats'ka Oblast' (also known as Transcarpathian Oblast). Naturalization documents has birth date as 15 May 1879.
