Effie Longworth Hensley, age 95, of Cynthiana, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014, at Harrison Memorial Hospital, in Cynthiana. Born in Knox County, Kentucky, on September 25, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Hurst Longworth. She married Aaron Hensley, who preceded her in death. For years, she cooked at Biancke’s Restaurant, in Cynthiana. She also worked at the former Dr. Scholl’s Shoe Factory, in Falmouth. Effie was a member of the Oakwood Baptist Church, in Cynthiana. She loved her family and friends, and she will long be remembered for her wit and wisdom.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by: five sons, Ray (the late Lou) Hensley, Buddy Hensley, Johnny (the late Neva Sue) Hensley, Larry Hensley and Jerry (the late Carolyn) Hensley. Effie was the last member of her immediate family. She is survived by: six children, Wilma (the late Ray) Fogle, of Cynthiana, Bertha (the late Paul) Lea, of Falmouth, Kenneth (Janet) Hensley, of Berry, Dallas (the late Sue) Hensley, of Falmouth, Beverly (Tom) Dunn, of Cynthiana, and Bonnie (Ken) Kendrick, of Lexington; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 8, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, in Falmouth, with Bro. Mike Hays officiating. The visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 7, at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Butler Cemetery, in Pendleton County. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, 644 Linn Street, Suite 304, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.
