Janice Fry, of Howell, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, during a hospitalization at CentraState Medical Center of Freehold. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she relocated to New Jersey over 40 years ago. She graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, NY, and Monmouth County Vocational School in New Jersey, where she trained to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. As a dedicated nurse, she was employed for over 30 years with Shore Medical Specialists, Lakewood, NJ before retiring in 2011. She was a longtime faithful communicant and a regular lector at Sunday services at All Saints Episcopal Church in Lakewood, where she also taught Sunday school and served as a member of the Vestry.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Karl E. Fry in 1992; by her faithful friend, Frank Magnapera; and by her mother, Ethyl McNiece in 2008. Surviving her are two sons, Karl A. Fry and his wife Josephine of Jackson, and Lee Merendino and his wife Mary of Easton, PA. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Evan Merendino, Kristen Fry, and Nicholas and Robert Kocsis; three sisters, Donna Maul, Julie Smith and her husband Ronald and Maureen Smith and her husband Richard, all of Howell; and one brother, Curtis Maul of Asbury Park. Also surviving are seven nieces to whom she was affectionately known as "Auntie Jan," Christine Maul and Veronica, Shannon, Jessica, Rachel, Casie and Kelly Smith.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 at the George S. Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson. A short memorial service will be held at 8:30 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Rd., Toms River, NJ, following a Funeral Mass at All Saints Episcopal Church, corner of Second St. and Route 9 South, Lakewood, to begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to one of the three charitable organizations: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105, ASPCA, 1119 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick, NJ 08901, U.S. Marine Corps.
