Funeral service for Vivian Cooper will be 9:30 A.M. Friday, May 26, 2017 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.
The family will greet friends from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Vivian Cooper left this world peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2017 in Lawton.
Vivian, age 81, of Lawton, was born May 15, 1936 to Josh and Sudie (Conner) Deal in Statesboro, Georgia. She was one of nine children who grew up on a farm and learned the value of hard work. In high school, Vivian excelled in basketball and tennis.
In 1954 she met the love of her life, a young, handsome soldier, George Cooper. They soon married and spent the next twenty-five years living the military life, traveling all over the world. They were stationed at Ft. Sill for several of those years, where Vivian volunteered for the American Red Cross and was involved with the NCO Wives Club. She served as president of the organization and also received the Molly Pitcher Award for outstanding artillery wife.
Vivian was a caring wife and mother and a proud grandmother and great grandmother. She leaves behind her husband, retired SGM George R. Cooper Jr of Lawton; sons: George R. Cooper III and his wife, Terry of Hickory, NC and Richard E. Cooper and his wife Tina of Ada, Ok; sisters: Daisy Edenfield of Waynesboro, GA, Annabel Banks, Mary Nell Cartee, and Sue Tucker of Statesboro, GA; grandchildren: Lindsey Parker of Hickory, NC, Ryan Ammerman of OKC, Ian Cooper of Ada, OK, Katelyn Cooper of Charlotte, NC, Jane Cooper of Dolores, CO, and Kylea Cooper of Hickory, NC; great-grandchildren: Nathaniel and Andrew of Hickory, NC, Rowan and Paige of OKC, and Eli, Allison, and Charlie do Ada, OK, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Emory Deal and JC Deal; and two sisters: Louise Lee and Janie Boyle.
Vivian's life was a gift and blessing to all her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. She would want all to know that she loved them.
