Robert Leroy Christiansen

Robert Leroy Christiansen, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs.

Robert was born on December 5, 1920 in Helena, Montana the son of Bernard Christiansen and Georgia May White.

He married Delphia Jane Richards in Telluride, Colorado on October 1, 1950. She passed away May 11, 2016

Robert was born in Helena, Montana and moved around frequently during his childhood. His father was in the refrigeration business, and they lived in Wenatchee, Washington, Portland, Oregon, Sacramento, California, and Grants Pass, Oregon. He graduated high school in Grants Pass, Oregon. He joined the Navy on December 15, 1942, serving in World War II. He was an electrician’s mate and was stationed on a ship near the Aleutian Islands. He was honorably discharged on December 15, 1945. He received the following awards while in the Navy: WWII Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal 1 star, American Area Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He moved to Telluride, Colorado after his military discharge and met Delphia Jane Richards. They married on October 1, 1950 in Telluride, CO. They also lived in Rico, CO and Grand Junction, CO until they moved to the Soda Springs/Grace area in 1958 where he went to work for Monsanto until his retirement. He resided in this area the remainder of his life. Robert enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, electronics and science. His spare time was mainly spent with his wife and family. They were the most important part of Robert’s life.

He is survived by his children Wanda Jean Christiansen from Pocatello, ID, Robert Leroy Christiansen Jr./Diana from Medford, OR, Alan Eugene Christiansen/Sharon from Soda Springs, ID, Carl Ray Christiansen/Hope from Riverton, WY. He is also survived by 14 Grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren

He was preceded in Death by Parents Bernard and Georgia Christiansen, Son Larry Wayne Christiansen, Granddaughter Samantha Marie Christiansen, Sister Lois Cannon, Wife Delphia Jane Christiansen

Family will visit with friends on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home.
