Eric D. Hruska, age 57, of Mason, Ohio passed away peacefully Thursday, April 13, 2017 at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He was born Sunday, December 20, 1959 in Warren, Ohio to Daniel and Donna (nee Bower) Hruska.

A graduate of Howland High School, Eric received a Bachelors in Music Education from Youngstown State University. He served in the United States Navy for 20 years as a musician and music instructor. In 2008, Eric earned his Masters in Accounting from Old Dominion University giving him the opportunity to work as an Auditor for the Department of Defense Finance and Accounting Services.

Eric's passion for music continued as he was a member of the Mason Community Band and the Southwestern Ohio Symphonic Band. As a member of Faith United Methodist Church in West Chester, he sang in the choir and directed the church's brass group. Eric also had a love of gardening and watching the flowers bloom into their fragrant colors.

Like most of us, Eric had his favorite shows and sports he enjoyed watching. He prefered college sports over the professional sports as they showed more heart for the game. He also enjoyed running. Anything associated with the History Channel such as Antiques Roadshow, Mysteries of the Museum or American Pickers was bound to be on the TV.

But what was most important to Eric was his family. Spending time with those he loved is what brought the biggest smile to his face. Playing Pokemon Go and the funny stories to go along will be a memory they will cherish for many years.

Eric was preceded in death by: his father, Daniel Hruska.

Eric is survived by: his 15 year old daughter, Danae Marie Hruska; 11 year old son, Matthew Thomas Hruska; mother, Donna Hruska; sisters, Leah (husband, Dean) Devin and Bonnie (husband, William) Pettigrew; nephew, Jeremy Devin; beloved friend, Cara; and many other loving family members and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 6:00 PM at Faith Community United Methodist Church, 8230 Cox Rd, West Chester Township, OH 45069. Time for fellowship will immediately follow the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Faith Community UMC in honor of Eric by contributing to the Traditional music program at Faith and/or College fund for his children.
