Alexander Baca Jr., age 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Alexander was born in San Antonio, NM on June 5, 1945 to Alexander and Eva Serna Baca.
Alexander graduated from Socorro High School. Alexander was employed with the University of New Mexico and in 2005 he retired after 35 years of service.
Alexander was a man of great faith. Alexander was also a very generous man, making regular donations to The United Way, Unicef and Franciscans. Above all, Alexander was very devoted to his family.
Alexander had a great sense of humor, loved babysitting his grandchildren, playing his guitar and feeding pigeons. Alexander will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Alexander was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary M. Baca, daughter, Maryann V. Baca, brothers, Ben Baca, David Baca, Joe Baca and Reyme Baca and sister, Librada Armijo.
Alexander is survived by his devoted children, Bernadette V. Griego and her husband, Jimmy, Eve D. Sánchez and her husband, Ted and Francine E. Edgin and her husband, John whom he loved as his own son, Alex J. Baca and his wife, Kira and April L. Baca and her partner, Michael Trujillo, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The Holy Rosary will be recited on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro with The Mass of Resurrection to follow at 9:00 a.m. with Celebrant Father John Anasiudu. Burial will take place at San Miguel Catholic Cemetery following service. Pallbearers will be John Edgin, Adrian Edgin, Alex J. Baca, Raymond J. Baca, Frankie Armijo and Jimmy Griego. Honorary pallbearers are Ted Sanchez, Ricky Sánchez, Gabriel Sánchez, Alex L. Baca and Isaac Torres.
