Graduated from Balboa High School. Honorably served in the Marine Corps from 1954 to 1962. Retired from the University of California San Francisco Medical Center in 1999, where he worked for nearly 30 years.

On April 26, 1969, he married Gloria Salazar Jennings, and for nearly 50 years Leo was blessed by Gloria's unconditional love and devotion. Their daughter, Leila Batties, resides in Washington, DC, and son, Matthew, lives in San Francisco. They have three grandchildren, Thomas, Logan and Grace.
Leo is also survived by his oldest daughter, Leilani; daughter-in-law, Elena Duggan; and sister, Evelyn Chester; and will be missed by a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, May 25 at 3:00pm, followed by the Rosary Vigil at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave Daly City. The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, May 26 at 10:30am at St. Andrew's Church 1571 Southgate Ave Daly City.
