Geraldine Evelyn Taylor Carter the daughter of the late Deacon Cornelius Benjamin Taylor, Sr. and the late Lillie Stanton Taylor was born on August 9, 1928 in Cumberland, Virginia.

Geraldine was reared in a close-knit family and attended Cumberland County Public Schools. At an early age she was baptized and joined the Petersville Baptist Church. On June 4, 1945 she graduated from Cumberland Training School. Shortly after graduation she moved to Yonkers, New York. Geraldine held various jobs and received a certification from the Metropolitan School of Infant Care, Inc., in 1960. On March 12, 1949 she was joined in matrimony to the late Sylvester Carter. To this union two children were born. In 1953 she joined the Community Baptist Church in Yonkers, New York and later became a member of the Usher's Ministry. On July 30 1993 she retired from Combe, Inc. in White Plains, New York. In June 2005 she relocated back to Farmville, Virginia, where she resided until her death.

Geraldine was a huge baseball fan. Her favorite team was the New York Yankees. She loved to dine out and visit different type of restaurants. In her spare time she also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

On Thursday May 7, 2015 after a brief illness, Geraldine departed this life surrounded by her family at the VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Cornelius B Taylor, Jr., two sisters Mary Ethel Taylor and Rebecca S Woodson and close friend Katie Chandler.

She leaves to cherish her memory her two children: Calvin Carter, Yonkers, NY and Berthelma Hill (Andrew), Thomasville, GA; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette B. Booker, Piscataway, NJ and Catherine E. Woodson, Cumberland, VA, one brother, John W. Taylor, Sr., Yonkers, NY; two sisters-in-law, Lucille P. Taylor, Richmond, VA and Inell Carter, Yonkers, NY along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She also leaves to cherish her memory two close friends, Francis Overbee and Beverly Wilkerson and a devoted companion and friend, Ernest B. Allen, Sr., Cumberland,Virginia.
