Ronald "Ron" Keith Burnett was born on January 28, 1948 in Nashville, Tennessee, and he was the son of Samuel Burnett and Audrey (Speakman) Burnett.

He was a graduate of Maplewood High School where he was well known throughout the city for his skill on the athletic fields, particularly basketball. After graduation he continued his education at both Vincennes Junior College and Memphis State University on basketball scholarships.

Following college he enlisted in the US Navy. Professionally, he spent many years working for Aladdin Industries and Gaylord.

Ron was married on August 10, 1974 to his best friend and the love of his life Frankie Shadrick. He invested himself into his family by being a provider, faithful husband, coach, fisherman, mentor and golf partner. He was also a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School volunteer and Spirit Sunday School Class member.

He was known for his love of life, gentle spirit, easygoing nature, and relentlessly positive outlook. He treated all people with kindness and dignity, no matter their position in life.

Still living in Nashville, he was 69 years old when he passed away on May 19, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Roy Edwards and by his sister Sherry Edwards. Survivors included his wife; a married daughter; two sons; five grandchildren; a sister and a brother.

Celebration of Life Services were hela at Nashville First Church of the Nazarene, and burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
