LIMES: Died on Mach 2, 1886, at his home near Staunton, Ohio, Joseph Trimble Limes, at the age of 28 years.

Joseph Trimble Limes, son of Harmon and Elizabeth Limes, was born near Staunton, Fayette County, Ohio, February5th, 1858, and died at his mother’s residence, near the same place, March 2nd, 1886.

At the age of eleven he commenced the study of music, which ended only with his life. He was a talented musician and a successful teacher, and will be greatly missed in our social circles and homes. He was highly respected and used his influence for good, especially in the cause of temperance, for which he voted. As a son and brother, he was loving and kind, and the bereaved family and, also, the estimable young lady to whom he was engaged, have the sympathy of the entire community.

The funeral services were held in the M. E. Church at Staunton, Wednesday afternoon, the 3rd inst. The services were conducted by the pastor. The large concourse in attendance testified to the respect in which Joe was held. The Limes Band boys acted as pall-bearers, with instruments draped for their leader. E. H. Dixon

The monument for Joseph T. Limes is the most prominent grave marker in the Staunton Cemetery.

It has a tall white marble statue of a bugler on top. The inscription reads:

"Tis music charms the soul to live in hearts we leave behind is not to die. A sunbeam from the world has vanished."

An alert to anyone who visits the Staunton Cemetery and walks near the Joseph T. Limes monument seen in the accompanying photographs with this memorial. It is sitting on a bed of broken stones and is leaning forward.

The monument could potentially fall over on someone. The Concord Township Trustees who maintain the Staunton Cemtetery have been contacted about this issue that is of serious concern.

The Staunton ME Church is adjacent to the cemetery.
