LaMoine R. Robertson was born May 24, 1924 to Marvella Ross and Ralph Robertson in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He died May 17, 2017, seven days prior to his 93rd birthday and exactly 41 years after his father's death. LaMoine’s mother also lived for 93 years.

LaMoine graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1941. He enrolled in Eau Claire Teachers College that same year. His college education was interrupted when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943, became a Naval Aviator and was stationed in Pensacola, Florida. He completed his service on December 25, 1945, and was honorably discharged as an Ensign.

LaMoine returned to Eau Claire and continued his education. On June 9, 1945, he married Marilyn Bergh in Eau Claire and started their family. They had three sons: David, Steven and Mark. LaMoine graduated and became a math teacher in Augusta, WI for four years. He then was employed by Gillette’s (which became Uniroyal) where he had a successful career for 33 years, retiring in 1982. Most of his time with Uniroyal was spent in Eau Claire, but he did have opportunities to also work for the company in an advisory capacity in Mexico, Argentina and South Korea.

Members of LaMoine’s first family who preceded him in death are youngest son Mark (1969), wife Marilyn (1977), middle son Steve (1982) and Steve’s twin sons who died during birth. He is survived by his oldest son Dave (Mary Greuel); grandsons Jeff, Greg (Tina Johnson), John (Donna Felten) and Scott Beranek; and granddaughter Christine McElroy; and 5 great grandchildren.

On July 2, 1978, LaMoine married Miriam (Hunt) Grosvold and began a new life by adding 5 additional stepchildren to his family. Miriam had three daughters: Janet (Dave Oliver), Mary (Chuck Hommen), and Karen Imm (deceased). She also had 2 sons: Mike (Jane) and Jeff. These five families also have fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

LaMoine loved golf, bowling, singing, wintering in Texas, watching the Packers and Brewers, playing cribbage with his friends at Realife Cooperative and going down to Black River Falls on Mondays with Mike and Jeff to pull a few slots and have a nice lunch. He also made sure he got back by 1:00 p.m. to play cribbage.

LaMoine was a very giving person. In his early years, he helped get Little League and Babe Ruth League Baseball started in Eau Claire. He spent time with the March of Dimes organization. He was a 32nd degree Mason receiving his 60-year pin in the last few weeks. He sang in the Consistory Choir. He and Miriam sang in Church and local choirs for many years. They also delivered Meals on Wheels. When Miriam was not in good health, LaMoine spent many hours, days and years taking care of her every need. The entire family was extremely impressed and Miriam's family was extremely grateful for the care and devotion he gave her. He did it out of love for Miriam.

In his final few months, he spent most of his time in Prairie Point Rehab Center, River Pines Long Term Care Unit and Mayo Hospital. Many of the staff members and nursing staff mentioned how much they loved to work with him. He was a gentle man with a warm smile.

We would like to thank the staff and nurses of these special facilities, plus the people at Mayo Hospice for their special care given LaMoine.
