John Martin PORTER was born in 1802 in Maryland, the son of Thomas J. PORTER (b. 1772 in Baltimore City) and Mary (Nancy) LOGSDON (b: 1776 in Maryland). Mary was the daughter of William Logsdon (1747), son of John Logsdon, Sr. (1716) and Margaret Whooley (1717). John Porter served as a Judge of Orphans Court 1848-1850. He died on 13 Nov 1860 in Danville, Knox, Ohio. He was buried in St. Luke Cemetery, Danville, Ohio. He was married three times. 1st Married: 24 MAR 1825 in Knox Co. Ohio: Mary Sapp; their children were: Samuel S. PORTER (b: 1826) and Thomas PORTER (b: 1829) 2nd Marriage: Lenora ALBRIGHT their son: William Henry PORTER baptized 12 AUG 1832 Knox Co, Ohio; St Luke's Catholic Church, Danville; Sponsors: John Durbin & Maria Porter.
3rd Marriage: John married Rachel ARNOLD [27] on 24 Jul 1832 in Knox Co.,Ohio.
In the Federal Census taken 14 Oct 1850, John, Rachel & 7 children were in Brown Township, Knox County, Ohio.
He valued his real estate at $2,000.
