Louise Jaehnke and Charles Erlenkötter were married in Hoboken, New Jersey on October 14, 1875. She last appears in the Hoboken city directory for 1915, when she was living with her son Francis. The 1920 U. S. Census lists her as living in Weehawken, New Jersey, just north of Hoboken. Perhaps she left Hoboken when anti-German sentiment became strong there during the First World War.

According to her death certificate, Mrs. Erlenkotter was cremated at the Ferncliff Crematory in Greenburgh, New York. The family monument in Hoboken Cemetery, Hudson County, New Jersey includes an inscription for her, so her remains would appear to have been placed there. Unfortunately, this cemetery has been in receivership for a number of years and further information about the monument hasn't been located.

A probate notice for her appears in the New York Times, January 24, 1937, p. 48. Her will named the following survivors: daughter Doris Vittinghoff and her husband Hans Vittinghoff, of White Plains, New York; son Charles Erlenkotter of Montreal, Canada; son Francis Erlenkotter of Linden, New Jersey and his wife Lydia; and three grandchildren, Robert Erlenkotter of Fort Logan, Colorado; and Richard and David Erlenkotter, both of Weehawken, New Jersey.
